Employer tax break for hiring

According to a report by the Economy Policy Institute, 5 million additional jobs could be created in the next two years if the government would provide companies with a $27 billion tax break for hiring.

Supporters of this idea says that the tax break would help employers get over the fear of hiring. Opponents, however, say that it will only be a temporary fix (remember Cash for Clunkers?) and it is another waste of money. Or worse, some employers might lay off workers now and then rehire later just to collect.
